Vehicle Break-Ins
The Leawood Police Department continues to receive reports of auto crimes throughout the area, and we are asking for help. These primarily take place overnight while vehicles are parked at residences. Most often, if a crime is completed, the vehicles were reported to be left unlocked. If the vehicles are secured, we often see surveillance footage of the subjects moving on to the next target. Once inside a vehicle, subjects often gain access to garage door openers to commit additional burglaries.

In an effort to get ahead of these crimes, we continue to try to raise awareness and educate throughout the community. Please see the linked flyer with information from 2023 auto crimes.  The Leawood Police also offer free steering wheel locks in the main lobby of the police department during normal business hours.
