Leawood Estates HOA Pausing Emerald Ash Borer Treatments for 2025
Over the past several years, the Leawood Estates Homes Association has assisted homeowners with Ash trees along the street by injecting a chemical treatment to help protect these trees from the Emerald Ash Borer. Not all Ash trees received this every other year treatment; only those rated by an arborist as healthy and likely to survive were treated. If you have an Ash tree, you can check for a tag attached to the trunk which indicates that the tree has been treated. All trees on your property are owned and should be maintained by the homeowner. Our HOA provides tree trimming and maintenance services to help preserve the beautiful tree lined streets that make Leawood Estates such an attractive neighborhood.
Due to budget constraints, the LEHA board has made the difficult decision to place the 2025 treatments on hold to preserve funds for regular tree pruning and the possibility of spring storm damage. Recent research indicates that the prior chemical treatments should continue to provide some protection for the Ash trees even without treatment this year.
If any LEHA homeowner would like to have trees on their property (even backyard trees) treated for EAB protection you can contact Arbor Masters at (913) 308-3860. They will provide a 10% discount for Leawood Estates residents.
The increased costs of providing trash & recycling services, island maintenance, and tree trimming required the recent increase in our annual dues. With this in mind, the board appreciates your understanding as we endeavor to provide services and stay within our budget.
Sincerely,
Leawood Estates Board of Directors
