Short-Term Rentals
Early in regional FIFA World Cup planning discussions, the Leawood Governing Body surveyed homeowner associations across the community regarding short-term rentals. Following strong feedback from residents and HOA leadership, the Governing Body took action to continue to prohibit short-term rentals in Leawood and maintain the city’s existing rental standards.
Current rental requirements include:
· The entire dwelling must be rented (no partial-home rentals)
· Rentals must be for a minimum of 30 days
· A valid rental license is required
Short-term rentals, including those for fewer than 30 days through platforms like Airbnb and VRBO, are not permitted in Leawood. Homeowners considering renting their property can visit leawood.org/access to review requirements and apply for a rental license.
